Kerr Says Warriors Can Win Without Curry
Despite a wave of injuries, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr remains upbeat about his team’s prospects. In a recent interview following a 91–110 loss to the Utah Jazz—where all four All-Stars, including Stephen Curry, sat out—Kerr expressed strong belief in his roster. He stated that with or without Curry, the Warriors are still capable of beating any team, whether in the regular season or playoffs. Fans following the team through Crickex Sign Up have taken note of Kerr’s unwavering confidence.
Kerr pushed back on the growing narrative comparing the team’s win-loss records with and without Curry. “I see people focusing on our record with Steph and without him,” he said. “But how many of those games did we also play without Klay [Thompson], KD [Kevin Durant], or Draymond [Green]? You can’t evaluate our team fairly unless the rest of our core is available.”
The numbers back him up. In the 22 games Curry missed this season, the Warriors went 13–9. However, in the five games where Curry was out but the other three stars played, they recorded a stellar 13–4 record—good for a 76.5% win rate, which actually surpasses their overall season win percentage of 74% (54–19). Kerr emphasized, “Steph is crucial, but everyone else has a role. As long as our core group is intact, we can beat anyone.”
Kerr explained how the team shifts tactically in Curry’s absence. “Without Steph, we tailor more plays around KD. Draymond protects the paint, and Klay takes on more scoring responsibility,” he noted. “If the rest of the lineup is healthy, we can handle both the regular season and the postseason.” During Curry’s previous ankle injury layoff, Durant led the offense with more freedom, often scoring 30+ and taking on a playmaker role reminiscent of his Thunder days.
Even defensively, the Warriors showed improvement during Curry’s absence, helping maintain their status as one of the league’s most balanced teams. However, Kerr acknowledged that without Curry, the road ahead won’t be easy—especially with the Houston Rockets rising as their primary playoff rival. The Rockets have made major strides this season, not only maintaining Mike D’Antoni’s fast-paced offensive identity but also strengthening their defense significantly.
With elite three-point shooting and improved team defense, Houston has all but secured the top seed in both the Western Conference and the league. They’ve become a complete team and pose a serious threat to Golden State’s playoff ambitions.
As playoff anticipation builds, fans watching via Crickex Sign Up will be focused on how the Warriors adapt, especially if Curry remains sidelined. But one thing is clear—Kerr’s confidence hasn’t wavered. And with the rest of the roster stepping up, Golden State still has the firepower to take on any challenge.
